Newb Advice Needed, Ducted Air Conditioning

I have two A/C units; both are rated at 320 cfm. The unit in the bed room is putting out much more air than the one in the living area. I believe the unit in the living area is either blowing air into the attic or the return air is restricted; both units use the same duct except for return air. I have removed all of the registers and using metal tape sealed everything from the bedroom unit to the living room unit, but I cannot access the living room unit from inside the 5th wheel. Is it possible to remove the unit from the roof without access from the inside? Any help would be appreciated.

Welcome Gbob to irv2.
Most AC's I've seen have four bolts holding them to the roof supports that would be accessed from the inside when you take off the deflector or outside when the cover is removed.
Here is information on installation of AC's and trouble shooting them.
You didn't say the make of your AC here is a thread about someones problem with his AC.
Enjoy the forums and do post often.

Thanks "007"
My units are Dometic Duo-Therm HP with Quiet Zone ducted air system, the living room unit cannot be accessed from inside so when I remove the four mounting bolts I am concerned that there will be a nut on the other end that will fall into the attic area, but if the interior plate is attached to the framing and the holes for the mounting bolts are threaded I would be ok to remove the unit. I have looked at the installation manual but cannot tell. Thanks for the help.

Last time I did anything with a AC with the bolts they came out and nuts were welded on plate for mounting.

Gbob, if you wish to download the service manual for your units you will find them here: Aero-Rv.com - Aerolite Ultra Lite RV Travel Trailer and Expandable Hybrid Campers listed by brand under HVAC. The most common cause of this is incorrectly sealed ductwork behind the ceiling intake. There is an air flow plate that isolates return air from exhausted cool air. When it is not completely sealed you will have reduced output from registers and insufficient cooling.

If the unit do not penetrate the roof and have a ceiling return then the mounting will be lag bolts from the top down into the roof. Remove the unit shroud and you will find the head of the bolts going through the units base. Good luck and keep us posted.

I took the 5er back to the dealer with a list of repairs that need to be addressed, the A/C being one of many. I am scheduled to pick it up Thursday, I still want to take the unit off the roof and make sure the work was done, now that I know I won’t have to tear the ceiling out to put it back together.
Thanks for all the help.
