Thought I would just pass this on. I had checked our refrig serial number before not knowing that the number is the one on the actual cooling unit not the one inside the refrig.

Called Norcold (very nice and helpful) and they explained where the number was. Turns out I need the recall. Already called repair place and scheduled it.

Well after alot of discussion with Norcold they finally sent a new cooling unit and it was installed today. Took the rv tech and me 6 hours to do, not hard just time consuming and it's pretty darn heavy. (Norcold pays 4 hours to do recall)

When I first contacted Norcold with serial number they agreed it needed a new cooling unit. When the repair facility called with the same info, Norcold indicated there records showed the recall had already been done by Monaco. Anyhow after a few phone calls Norcold agreed that they didn't want to take the chance and sent a new cooling unit. Sounds alot like someone got paid for saying they did the recall.

Seems to be working good.

John

What was the recall?

I am having trouble running my refrigerator in the gas mode. It works fine on electricity.

Welcome to irv2 larryeclemen

Here is a list of recalls. Your trouble maybe that the gas portion of your refridge needs some cleaning. Your metal heat stack may have rust that needs to be removed, place a paper towel over the gas tube burner at bottom of stack and gently tap on outside of stack.
Be careful rust doesn't get in your eyes now check and see if your getting a spark from the electrod near the burner outlets. The electrod maybe dirty and need some cleaning it will build up some carbon over time that needs to be cleaned off. Just be careful and not get rod bent away from burner tube, about a 1/8" gap.
After cleaning just vac out rust.
