Norcold, IMHO, started using a thinner wall tubing to build their cooling units several years ago. This has led to the failure of the cooling units prematurely and also the cause for the motorhome fires. Norcold decided to recall these units and install the recall boxes that are unfortunatly just a bandaid fix thats supposed to shut down the refrigerator in the event of a high temperature at the boiler tubing that can result in a fire if the tubing starts leaking due to cracking.
The only sure fix for this problem is to replace the cooling unit with an Amish Built cooling unit that is made using a 50% thicker wall tubing and doesn't need any recall boxes. The recall boxes have also been a pain because they can fail and shut down your fridge even though there may not be a problem.
I elected to install an Amish Built unit in my Norcold 1201 just for the peace of mind of not having any fires. Here is a picture slideshow of my installation.
