As posted above these absorption fridges are not frost free. We have been full timing with a Norcold 4 door for 4 years w/o issues. The fans that you purchase from places like rvcooling... will minimize ice buildup in the center of the fin's. My two fan setup is due to be replaced.

To clarify, I’m not talking about the fans on the back to improve cooling performance. I’m talking about two smaller fans on the inside back wall directing air at each lower corner of the cooling fins. They’re maybe two inches in diameter. ARP sells both.

Exactly the fans I've installed which I've checked and they come on when cooling is commanded on, the icing is only on the right side and some have said they have the thermistor on the left but mine shows the right on the second fin and about 2 inches from top.

My thermistor is also on the right, second fin, but about 1” from the bottom, not the top.

I think moving the thermistor up causes the fridge to run colder.

Found this on youtube. The video is good but then he gives a link to the owners/tech manual download. I found page 33 and 73 thru 76 very helpful. My fridg just slowly stopped cooling and we are using it as our kids moved back in while having a house built. The manual shows where the thermister should be and also how to get all the trouble codes. After shutting my fridg down and doing the trouble shooting it is now running “0” in the feezer and 33 in the fridge. Works better than it ever has.

Thermistor FIN location is BRAND/MODEL specific

Some far left
Some far right
Some 10th fin from right
Some 3rd fin from right
ETC

Sliding thermistor Up/Down is a means of affecting fridge temps on those models that use 'AUTO TEMP CONTROL'
NOT for those models with adjustable temp settings (1-5 or 1-9)
The thermostat is calibrated for temp rnge control based on that OEM position of thermistor

One should look up the service manual for their specific brand/model and verify WHERE the thermistor should be mounted

Then do some troublshoot of cooling issues if temps are not within reason
