Understood. My Norcold is not in a slide so I'd have to install fans in the roof vent to improve the airflow.

Norcold 1200LRIM problems
I'm sorry if it's a 1200 it's my opinion and others is any changes will only help some and is not a miracle fix.

Yes, it's a 1200 LMIR. I've not read anything yet to lead me to believe there is a miracle fix available. Trial-and-error I assume. The hope is that the "trial" part is not too espensive.

I gave up on the Norcold
After spending many bucks on tech's who came out and 'fixed' different things on the Norcold, throwing away 4 loads of food I am having the Amish system installed next week. Wanted the Samsung but it just won't fit since I have the heater under the fridge and didn't want to spend the money on the Fisher/Paykal.

Any idea what all is included with the Amish Cooling Unit? Assume it includes the boiler and coils but not sure what else. In my case, the insulation that wraps/covers the flue is crumbling away and almost gone. I'm thinking that is a big factor in why my frig won't cool very well on LP - it's much better on AC... but still not good enough.

Had the flue recovered, burner cleaned out and just about everything else the tech's could think about. Still won't cool enough. Iron Horse RV in San Antonio is doing the work. I take it in on the 6th and will give a report a few days later.

Thanks and best of luck. If you have success with the Amish Unit then I'm all over it. Again, if these absorption refer's work as designed, you can beat them for efficiency, especially if you dry camp a bunch.

Maybe we should start a thread asking folks with good experiences with Norcolds to chime in. I'm curious how many people out there have had good results with them.

I've already read some folks who installed Samsung's two years ago who are having to replace them again.

Yes, one member installed a Samsung 197 (I think) and had problems with it only 2 years later. I think he now installed a Samsung 17 (not positive about model number).
The bottom line in my opinion is there is obviously no solution that is fail-safe. That is why I'd like to give the Norcold one last shot and I'm assuming that means an Amish Cooling Unit.
As I mentioned earlier, there have to be some people who have had good results with them. If not, what about a replacement gas absorption unit instead of a residential unit? The only reason not to try that (or the Amish CU) is if all available evidence points to any and all gas absorption units not working well. That would be an industry-level design flaw.

I put the Amish unit in just over 2 years ago, still does its job. Just now replaced the Thermister and now a cold fridge again. Need to replace the propane burner and spark igniter and hopefully will be good to go till the next problem. Ain't life great?
