Norcold 1210 defrost cycle?

I have a Norcold 1210IMD and have installed a ARP system to prevent overheating for safety sakes. I have been dealing with a situation which I don't really know if I should worry about or not, maybe someone out there can help with telling me to change over to a residential refer. The system works overall really well with a 40 degree refer and around 0 in the freezer, which is really good overall. The problem lies with the fins on the back of the refer will get iced up within a few days of completely deicing. I've checked the burner temp which is around 187 which appears to be normal. The other day I checked the fin temp inside the box and it appears to be around 23 which I don't know if it's normal or not? Does anyone know if this is normal?
I also checked for any faults and there were none.
The other thing I was wondering is if there's a test to see if the control board is putting the system into a defrost cycle or not, can't seem to find any tests for this. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

My 1210 (2019 model) goes into a defrost cycle every 49 hours. It lets the fridge temp climb to 42 so the freezer goes anywhere from 23 to 31 degrees. Then the freezer starts to cool down and eventually the fridge does. The fridge is above 40 for at least a few hours and usually more.

It’s a real PITA if it happens in the middle of the day with full sun on the side with the fridge because it takes a lot longer to cool down. I’ve started switching the fridge off around 10PM occasionally so the defrost cycle runs at night instead of the middle of the day.

One thing I forgot to mention is that only the right side builds up with ice. How do you know that the defrost cycle has started?

David, this past August I completed a residential refrigerator install in my 2006 Discovery. Even at my septuagenarian age it wasn't all that hard to do. If you want to PM (Private Message) me I would be glad to share what I have done.

Note, when I removed the old Norcold I found a hole that had been burnt right through a thin plywood baffle and charcoaled wood above that! I'm so glad I switched to the residential. Almost twice as much room and it stays rock solid cold in all weather. I did mine for a total of approximately $700.

Pic is of the area above where the burnt hole in the baffle was.

I have a digital temp monitor in it and the freezer. It holds the high and low temps. When I see it's gone high but now it's normal I know the defrost cycle ran that night.
