We have a 2004 Monaco Knight with a 4-door Norcold Refridgerator. We are expeiencing a problem with a door contact getting very hot. I have seen posts about this issue elsewhere, but I have not read a solution to the problem. Can anyone help - I attach a picture of the burnt contact, which is left hand door, there are two metal studs, and one is getting so hot it is starting to melt the surrounding plastic - does anyone know a solution? We are based in the UK and the Thetford team over here are helpful but don't seem to have much knowledge about Norcold.

Thank you.
Alan

Alan, Try calling Rick, the owner of "RV Refrigeration" located in Tucson AZ. They rebuild cooling units as well as repair of all brands of RV frig's. They are well aware of those contact problems your having. Great people willing to help.
I don't have a Norcold but Rick did tell me to pass on a tip to others that they must inspect the contacts and clean if necessary before they cause serious problems. I have posted this before.

Should anyone need a rebuilt cooling unit replaced or shipped, I highly recommend and endorse RV Refrigeration. From experience this year with a failure and seeing how they rebuild them, I would now prefer one of their Ribuilts over a new OEM colling unit.

RV Refrigeration, 800-950-4874, Rick. See their Web page .http://www.rvrefrig.com/

Good luck,
Pat

Wow, I'll have to look at ours. Had no clue those little buggers existed. Sorry I couldn't be of any help.

If anyone can help with this problem, i.e who helped you, what did they or you do, what causes the problem and what cured the problem - this sort of information would be greatly appreciated. I feel sure it has happened to another 1200 Norcold refrigerator.

thank you
Alan
