sunkist5, sometimes there is a tube that slides back an forth to adjust the air, that does not seem to be your problem. did you blow the orvice out with comptessed air. it is small and does not take much to cause a problem.

Mike,
Ok than you very much, No slide tube on mine. Yes i took air from the shop vac after sucking the rust up then switched it to blow, Then took the tube and line off and blew air from the compressor thru it, but it maybe still a little clogged will try soaking it too. To see if the popping goes away. Have plenty of flame at furnace and hot water heater both work great. did get the fans to come on after cleaning the orifice tube. Was about to pull the thing out and burp it LOL

glad you said lol on the burp. if it works on electric I would think it has to be the heat sorce not getting hot enough.

sunkist, was just thinking about your dancing flame and remembered on another post some one suggested that I replace my burner, which would have been my next step if cleanning did not help. # 15 on this thread http://www.irv2.com/forums/f101/norc...-120477-2.html

Hello all. Yes mine is having the same problem. AC works fine gas not so good. I can see where some would think freezer is working but not the fridge because the temp in the freezer is somewhat cold but not freezing and the fridge is near room temp.My Winnebago is in the shop for the 2nd time now and has been there for 2 weeks now. Still not fixed. They changed the chiller, not sure why they did that but didn't fix it. I WILL post the fix as soon as they find it.In the mean time I'm looking for things that may assist their mech.

If an absorption type unit works on either gas or electric, there is no problem with the unit. If gas does not cool but the electric does, it is a flue or flame problem. If gas works but not electric, it is a heater problem, either element or control circuitry. Some units have 2 electric heating elements and if one heater is bad, the freezer will still be cold but the refrigerator side will be hot. Saw this happen couple years ago with a unit in a '99 Discoverey that a friend had. We found a bad heating element and replaced it, everything fine.
Google absorption refrigerator for an explanation of how one works.

OK all,
just got my RV back after more than one month in the shop. They found that the LP gas line was crushed and was limiting to gas flow. The line was just under the the center of the RV on the drivers side. Which by the way is also a side out. The repair shop said it was a manufacture defect. What ever.... It's fixed and i'm in love.

Just adding more BTDT experience. I used the information in this thread to resolve an issue with our Norcold 3-way fridge/freezer in our Jayco 12HW pop-up. The root issue was blocked passages in the pilot light burner. This wasn't at the gas orifice closest to the gas lines, but rather right at the flame. I had to take a wire brush to clear out the passages, and the fridge is working fine. This was a "while-camping" repair.
I had the same symptoms...cold freezer, but warm fridge, when running on gas. There were no issues when running on 120VAC.

I have a similar but different problem. The refrigerator (Norcold 1200 series) will get down to 32 or 33 degrees overnight but when I hit the road it warms up to above 50 degrees. This on the electric mode - tonight I'll run it on the propane mode to see if it cools. I thought air flow restriction so removed the four fans I put up top, removed the fire extinguisher I had installed near the burner. Seems very strange that it can get to freezing in the refrigerator and a few hours later with the generator running and the refrigerator set to run on A/C that it warms so rapidly. Granted I am in a hot part of the US - it was 113 a couple of days ago but only in the upper 90's today.
I'll dig into the outside access and look for air restrictions or lose wires this weekend but does anyone recommend a refrigeration dealer in northeast Florida - Gainesville or Jacksonville? OR further up north as I'm heading to Maine. Unfortunately I'm about 2800 miles from home and most of my tools. Also plan to be on the road another six to eight weeks and sure would like the refrigerator working. Is it time for me to get an Amish cooling unit or switch to the Sansome electric refrigerator? If so any recommendations for east coast vendors/installers? All suggestions welcomed.
Thanks
Bob

Bob, If I think I read you right, you say that when traveling your running the fridge on electric mode. If this is the case you may have one of the two 120 volt heating elements that operate the fridge when in AC mode going bad. Try running the fridge on propane when traveling and you should stay cold.

1ciderdog, Here is a link to the heating elements that I think you probably have in your fridge.
Norcold 225 watt AC heating element, set of 2 - RV Cooling Unit Warehouse
