Norcold fridge

My norcold fridge works perfect, when on a campground, or dry camping, but once we hit the road, the fridge stops being cool and starts to get warm inside, in warm weather it will flash no-co, i reset the fridge when i stop and the fridge will work again

Hello John and welcome,

What model is your Norcold? There are a number of recalls on them especially the 1200 series. There have been numerous threads here on them due to the large amount of problems with them. Ours after much frustration and $$ is not working at all.

If you use the search here, you will find a lot of useful info about Norcold fridges and even how to replace them with counter depth household models.

From my experience the biggest reason for warm temp is venting problems. Check the vent outside your rig to see if there are any obstructions first.

Definitely check your vent tube and while you are up there check the fans to make certain they are working.

John,
according to the Norcold web site this is what is stated:

"The controls sense that the cooling unit has stopped cooling. The heat source to the cooling unit is turned off and locked out by the controls. Refer to the owner's manual for instruction to reset the controls."

I do understand that you already know that they unit has stopped cooling, but have you check the manual and reset the controls to see what happens? Your post seems to indicate that you do reset it.

When you are going down the highway do you use the generator, an inverter, or propane. If propane, is the burner lighting? You could have a faulty igniter or mud daubers could have gotten into the burner area and the restriction will not let it lite.

Good luck.

Since it only happens when driving, I would guess that warm outside air is being forced in and around the enclosure, warming the fridge and making it think it is not cooling properly. It probably is, but just can't keep up with the external heating. The most likely cause is improper spacing and/or sealing around the outside of the box, allowing too much hot air round the sides or top of the fridge. Your fridge manual should have installation instructions, which specifies exactly how much space can be on sides and top and how it must be sealed from the rear. Yours probably violates these specs. I know of at least two other owners whose had similar problems and their coaches came from the factory with improper installation.

Welcome to irv2 johnuk.
Your problem sounds like this problem in link.
As your traveling the air vacuum is sucking cold air through poor seal out of your fridge.

The Norcold 1200 recall has nothing to do with your cooling problem, but if you have that model it is extremely important for your safety that the recall work be done as soon as possible.
