Norcold fridge wasn't draining, fixed! Why??

I was removing the carpet and tile to put new laminate down yesterday and found a wet spot on the plywood inder the Norcold fridge. I checked the drainage tray and it was full and frozen. I turned the fridge off and drained the water, then tried to get water or air to go through the drainage tube, but it was completely stopped up.

I researched for at least an hour before deciding to take the fridge out and see if the line was crimped or clogged. When I pulled it out, as shown in the photos attached, the bracket for the condenser lines had been screwed down on TOP of the drainage line. After removing the bolt and freeing the line/opening it up the fridge drains and works fine.

I purchased the RV a couple months ago and have been full timing for about a month. The previous owner replaced the fridge with a new one just a few months before I bought it.

I can't understand how that would happen. Is that something that the factory installs, or does it come in parts that the purchaser assembles? Otherwise could it have been done intentionally by the factory to secure it for shipping or something?

Everything is fine now, but it'd be nice to have some insight on how that could happen. Frustrating to know that I could have lost part of the sub floor in 6 months for a stupid mistake had I not ripped up the tile.

Thanks for reading!

Probably a quick and dirty fridge replace to get it sold. Maybe careless tech and a PO that didn't use it enough to notice. Good job on the self diagnosis and repair.

More then likely that drain line got caught/pinched when COOLING UNIT was replaced.........doubt it was a new Fridge ...just replaced with new cooling unit

Good find...

Frozen????
Where are you it is that cold that the drain cup next to burner would freeze

Thanks pboucha. Old-Biscuit, The entire fridge was actually replaced. The coach is a 94 and the fridge is a model within the last few years. Owner I bought it from bought it new and kept on manuals/paperwork. But it is possible I guess that they replaced the fridge but used the old cooling unit...?

and haha, no not the drain on the outside. The drain on the outside basically had tumbleweeds in it. It was the drain pan inside the fridge that had frozen and was overflowing because the water had nowhere to go.
