We put $1,900.00 dollars into our 1.5 year old Norcold refrigerator after Norcold refused to honor the 3 year warranty. The worst part about it, is that it still doesn't work well and never has.

What was Norcold's reason to not honor your warr.

Once the recalls are completed and the refrigerator experiences a high temperature condition rendering the refer inoperable, what is the recourse? Will Norcold then replace the cooling unit on their dime, or will the owner now be responsible for the cost of a new cooling unit?

I would think that depends on whether you're still under warr. The first 2 years is parts and labor and the third year if you did what was necessary to qualify is parts only.

Hi Cliff,
Thanks, It seems to me that if this recall is due to a manufacturer/product defect Norcold should be responsible for the repair reguardless of the warranty situation. Is that what you were told by Norcold?

Hi Rjay. It's what I've heard from others who have had to replace cooling units themselves since they were out of warr.

If I have to replace my refrig. at my expense, because of a mfg. defect. It surely will not be a Norcold! That's all I have to say about that!

Is everyone getting their recalls done?
You do not need a bad situation.

Wayne its not required of them but see or ask if they inspect the electric element holder location for possible weak point, cracks, on burner tube. If there's yellow there is a problem.
When they cut insulation canister for switch they will see the pipe and element holder.
You have a newer coach should be clean its the older coach's that will run into trouble.
Has been posted that before you see yellow you would smell the ammonia according to Norcold tech also fires have happened when on electric service not just LP gas operation.
I have a 03 and there was no problem when they replaced with a whole new insulation canister on first recall.

Norcold is taking about three weeks after your shop calls, before shipping the recall parts, so plan accordingly.
