Norcold - I could not believe this....

We have been having problems with the NoTcold 1210 4 door in the 5er. Added two MORE out
side fans, and one on the interior. Next I moved the thermistor from the second fin to the third fin and the 4th fin as well. It is cooling better in the frig, but the freezer has gotten warmer.

I have been talking to a local Norcold repair rep about the progress.

I called Notcold this morning to talk to someone in the tech support or engineering and was told that Norcold does not provide any technical support due to liability and legal issues.

I can see with the service history and the fires why the attorneys might take this approach. But I cannot immagine a company thaking this kind of support approach and expect to stay in business much longer.

So all of you folks with Norcold, you are at the mercy of Norcold. I would suggest that if you are ordering a new coach, demand a Dometic frig or go with a residential unit. Show Norcold what you think about their product and customer technical support.

Nothing wrong with them limiting their liability, lots of companies do it.

I did on the old trailer. See my signature. It has a 4 door not-cold.

As for limiting liabilities, that is well and good, but no technical support. You ahve to depend on the poor quality techs at the dealerships.

Norcold and Thetford are on their way out of business.

Between the fiasco's with the Norcold four door fridges along with the Aira I & II toilets, they both make great BOAT ANCHORS.

RVer's and RV manufacturers have seen the light. People no longer want to put up with the POS crappy products they have been making and stuffing up customers rear end.

If manufacturers want to continue selling RV's they know that people do not what this crap in their RV so the have chosen alternatives to these POS products.

Just my opinion.

Normally I agree with that but given the known issues...

In other words, we have your money. Now, go away and don't bother me, boy!

first do a reset
kill all power 120 and 12 volt
wait ten minutes

remove teh fans you have blowing on the fins
restart the fridge
select 8 for the temp
put the thermistor on fin 6

press and hold the mode and temp switch simultaneously until the display changes and then use the mode button to tab through to 3 which will show fin temp
leave it displayed and let the fridge run for hrs to see if the temps drop

i found last year when the outside temps hovered at 100F then inside fin fans actually caused the unit to warm up

i would suggest for air movement to put a small fan in the bottom and let it gently move air around

also i added a 120 volt low velocity fan out side to help with the chimney effect, its a 400 cfm fan , does not turn real fast, but does provided that boost to keep the hot air moving

maybe it will help
I have the complete tech book on pdf if you need it drop me a email

in fact my inner box temps are at 27F and the outside air temp is 101F

so I am beating the norcold 60F performance rating

the manual can also be downloaded from the above link

DrFlim, I have to disagree. My friend tried using his Nocold for a BOAT ANCHOR but it would float intermitently.

Shoot, you cannot even use it as a boat anchor now unless you fill it with concrete. What a POS.

Get rid of it and go with the residential. Any repairs you sink money, time and effort into is just like putting lipstick on a pig. You still have a pig you just spent more money on. I just wonder how these clowns have stayed in business this long
