Norcold issue

Well, my 1210 norcold has the strangest thing going on. Works great on ac, either shore or genny. On LP it lights, perfect flame, stays lite but the frig just wont cool. turn genny on and begins to cool. checked roof vent and feel heat coming out so its not a plugged vent..... heater rods are mounted right next to burner tube and heat is definitely there under either condition. NO fault codes!!!!!!

Anyone had this issue?????? traveling in Florida right not and would appreciate any help.

Mine was an ammonia leak in the cooling unit. It never worked that well to begin with and when it finally pooped, I bought a residential replacement. The replacement draws a lower amperage than the older styles fridges that it'll run on the inverter driving down the road.
So far no problems in 15K miles.

If the fridge operates on power but not propane; with good flame; , the problem may in the chimney .
My Dometic uses a swirl baffle , suspended from the top , do distribute the flame's heat to the inside edges of the chimney, instead of straight up the center, to heat the ammonia solution.
You need to check your fridge manual to see if Norcold uses the same system; this part is subject to high heat and it's pieces fall out around the burner , if you've seen lots of rust under the burner this could be your problem.

Thanks for your input. I did check the spiral baffle and all was in good shape with no rust. this rigs new to us so I'm not sure if it was a problem I inherited from the previous owner. I did switch my ice maker, off the invertor, to run the fridge while traveling and worked perfect. Got to our destination and switched back to shore power and works great. Fridge pulled 4 amps when on the invertor however we ran the genny to recharge the coach batteries.

I agree Gauto, I'm going to search for a residential and switch over to invertor power while traveling. I'm also going to connect the fridge to a relay to sense if shore power is connected then energize the relay and put the fridge on shore power.
What residential fridge did you find that fit the opening? Ice maker?

Thanks again.

On a recent trip back from Texas we got re-routed THRU Dallas - not our choice....and encountered serious traffic and very poor roads - we felt like we had been riding on dirt roads for two hours before we got back to more smooth pavement.......anyhow all the potholes did a number on our double door Norcold - it stopped working - needless to say we were really perplexed - it was full of food of course, woud not work on gas or electric generator but we were in severe weather with wind and rain and no time to stop and fix....when we got to the campground that nite, our son who was travelling with us, in his on Class C - took off the outside refer cover and found that a wire had been shaken loose and had come completely unattached......re-attached it and we were good to go - WHEW! Just be sure to watch those potholes in Dallas!
