Norcold Model 1211 freezing fins

Have a Norcold 1211 in my 2008 Winnebago Tour had the hi temp recall done 2 years ago and the fridge and freezer has been working great we full time so the fridge freezer is on all the time. Last week the fins inside the fridge area started freezing up on the right hand side but only about 1/3 of the way across. We defrosted the unit and tried again same thing happens, we have the temperature setting set at 4 and the cooling is fine, what should I be doing to get rid of the frost/freezing on the fins? Is this possibly a recall issue? Any body else had this problem

Not likely a recall issue as this occurs normally if humidity is high and doors are opened and closed frequently moisture from the humidity builds up on fins & freezes, ours does the same from time to time.

Another possible cause could be if door seals are faulty and not sealing properly with door closed.

Also You might check the location of the thermistor where attached to the fins. Per the Norcold service manual pg. 29 it states that on older models, SN 832170 & lower the thermistor should be attached to the 20th fin from the right.

However on newer models SN832170 & higher or models that have a new style power board installed, the thermistor is to be attached to the 2nd fin from the right.

Hope this helps...

You will normally have frost on fins right hand side. The fridge will defrost and the frost water will drain into tray than to black container outside and evaporate from heat in the warm cooling coil area. The fridge defrosts itself.
Every time you open door you will create frost on fins.
I have the older fridge and sensor is on 2nd fin from right 1 1/4" from top. I would leave it alone.

Same deal. We keep it set on 2 it won't freeze.
An alternative is to put a circulation fan in the fridge.. it's been discussed several times in the forums.

I have the circulation fan and no ice on fins. Aids in cool down. Around $15. on ebay.

It is very normal to get frosting on the fins in the frig section.
