The above refer will ignite the pilot, but after 20 seconds will go into lockout and the check light will come on. It appears that the burner is not lighting. Could someone give me instructions on what to check next.

Thanks everyone

Hi Jerry, Not knowing your level of mechanical &/or electrical skills about the only thing I can suggest is to remove the outside vent cover for the ref. and the wind shield around the burner. Look to see if by chance there may be rust flakes fallen onto the burner. Is fo clean it off carefully not to damage the ignitor. Now, or if no visible obstruction was present have someone turn on the uit for gas operation while you check what is going on at the burner. You should be getting a sparking from the ignitor electrode to the burner. If so and it still does not ignite, turn the ref off and then back on. Keep doing this for 8 - 10 times as there may be air in the line that needs to be purged out. If after many tries it does not ignite get back to me with the level of comfort you may have to proceed any further.

Mike:

I'm pretty comfortable with working on electrical and mechnical items.
I removed the burner and cleaned it there was some rust in the burner slots. I had my wife go in and turn on the switch to the propane, which lit. It ran for about 15 - 20 seconds then shut off, and the check lite came on in the eyebrow. I have lit all the buners on the stove to make sure there is no air in the system. I have tried lighting the refer about 10 time with the same result. The refer works great on the a-c side. I believe it is the selnoid or the ignition module, but I can't figure out how to check them. Next step please.

jerry,
Since the flame lit for 15-20 seconds, it means the ignitor is working correctly. If you have a multimeter which will read millivolts, remove the ignitor wire from the circuit board and clip the positive lead to this. Negative lead to ground. Using a long candle lighter, put the flame under where the flame is normally, watch the meter and see if it will read any millivolts, should be in the neighborhood of 100 to 200 mv. If not, then replace the ignitor probe, if yes, then replace the circuit board as it is not sensing the flame signal.
