There are many things that can prevent the proper operation in gas mode. Since we know you have gas in the tank and I am sure you have tried turning it off and back on many times to purge any air in the lines out, The problem could be a flake of rust from the chimney has fallen across the burner. The system should be cleaned good due to the age of the unit. You can try to get by till then by removing the covers to the burner area and use compressed air to blow out any debris. Make certain the valve on the ref is turned on. This is a very small knurled knob and the hash mark needs to be in-line with the gas line.
If the unit will still not fire up. Make certain the electric gas valve is getting 12 volts from the control board when it powers up the ignitor. Good luck and let us know what you find.
