Norcold thermal safety switch options/workarounds

My 2006 Diplomat got the recall add-on switch with the LED.

That black box connected to the fridge vent has tripped (red LED always on)
disconnecting the incoming 12 volts to the fridge.

Any chance this thermal switch is tripping too early? A false positive?

My fridge #(1200LRIM) seems to be working fine on both propane and 120v.

Local repair shop called Norcold with my serial and VIN numbers and was told
'recall was done by previous owner, nothing more we can do'.

How are others dealing with this problem? Outside of replacing the unit
(not the safety switch) what are the options?
Anyone know where I might get another one of these switches?

Feel free to send me a private message or post here.

Thanks!

If in fact it's a faulty recall box , Norcold has been replacing them through an authorized facility as far as I know.

The Norcold "black box" fix went through about 3 design changes early on before they eliminated most of the false trips. Many of the early version black boxes were replaced due to false trips, since there was no provision to reset them. Any authorized Norcold service shop can replace your box, if that's the issue. Who will pay for it, is between you and Norcold.

I would love to get the problem resolved.

Have any of you re-positioned the sensor to avoid this issue?

I dont care about getting the switch for free from Norcold.

Which of the surplus or used shops might I check for one?
Anyone know who made these for Norcold?

Thanks

I have read on several different posts that moving a magnet around the upper right corner or somewhere on the magic black box will reset the thing. Haven't had the problem or tried the reset yet but definitely will if I don't see the dreaded yellow residue or smell ammonia around the refrig.
Good luck and safe travels!

Ours tripped on a trip last week and I used a magnet to reset it. Working fine again.
