Brian, I read that site (thanks again) and decided if the furnace was broke I'd replace it. While taking it out I discovered that the coil for the electric igniter for the pilot was severed so I bypassed`it, after vacuuming out years of dust and whatever from the burners and tubes. The only change from when new is I have to manually light the pilot when we set up. Already used to doing that from the TT we had.
When it was all back together I also figured out (from the wiring diagram on the plenum) that someone had screwed the wiring up big time so that was what was causing the fan to come on right off the bat.
Nice thing about tinkering with old stuff that's broke; you can't make it any more broke. So after a few cold weekends in "Tinker" when we first started using her the now working furnace supplies way more than enough heat when we camp up above where we live, up close to the snow line and the fan goes on andd off with the heat calls just like the furnace in a home, which is what Tinker is more and more.
