Not that it would not have happened..but
Refrigerator was not cooling ...Freezer fine. took the MH to TJ in Charlotte. The insulation had fallen down on the back of the fridge...
Now this does not sound to serious...but Tech tells us..good thing we caught it.. Coulda caught the MH on fire. We were lucky..So now another thing to check.. Peace....D

Great catch. This my single biggest fear with my MH. Glad it worked out for you. Lesson learned here = if it isn'r right there is a reason, have it checked out.

I suggest people get an 'Automatic Fire Extinguisher' for the refrigerator compartment. One example can be found at 'www.macthefireguy.com'. Please note I have no affiliation with the site, just one I use and know of, there are others.

Was this a Norcold? With all the recalls, it always makes me wonder. Ours is in process of getting a residential refer at OMC. We keep joking that the fire of a few weeks ago in Yosemite that the news people said came from a motorhome catching on fire was probably a Norcold...

If he is referring to the flue insulation, here's how I found mine:
That was fixed with aluminum duct tape:
Here's the lower Halon Install:
and HERE is the UPPER Halon:
Why? Because somewhere around here is a story and picture of a fridge fire that never tripped the lower Halon, and it was way closer to the source than the one I have downstairs.

Ours is a Dometic...I did not see the insulation myself so no picture. But by the mess the tech left on the floor by the slide, it was insulation along the back of refrigerator. The fridge is in the galley slide. Thanks for the info on the fire extinguisher system...D

It'll be interesting to see if Mac has Halon right now. The owner of FireFight/ Global Aerotech was killed a few months ago in a freak accident. They say the company will survive, but it was still closed last I heard. Maybe Dr4film has an update if he sees this?
