OASIS system operation

I do not have a problem with the OASIS system, but I would like to know how it works especially with regard to its operation when the system has been winterized. I have been assured that there is no problem operating the system for heating when the fresh water has been drained or filled with winter anti-freeze. But for those of us used to conventional hot water heaters where operating them without water will damage them, I wonder how this does not happen with the OASIS hydronic system which also is a hot water heater. Why doesn't the heating element get damaged when the water is drained?

The electric heating elements don't touch the fresh water. They are submerged in the tank of boiler fluid. Fresh water runs thru a coil of copper pipe, which is also submerged in the boiler fluid.
