onan 4000 generator wont start

Hi I have a 1994 southwind motorhome with a onan 4000 genset.new to rving.The carb spits gas out into air filter.I took carb off and had local mechanic hot clean it still spitting gas. Willstart if imess with choke but wont run. Not sure if I should buy new carb any suggestions greatly appreciated thanks

I am by no means knowledgeable about generators, however, I bought our first MH about 1 month ago. It is a 2002 Model 30H Fleetwood Storm, been stored , a long time and Onan 4000 gen was gummed up. Replaced carb, fuel pump, fuel filter, fuel lines, PC board etc., etc., also replaced both 6V coach batteries. Total cost was about $1,100.00 for labor and parts. Hope you have better luck with yours.
