I am getting fault code 27 which indicates that no output voltage is being detected. Anyone had this problem? Appreciate any comments.

Bowats, how many hrs. do you have on the 5.5 marquis?
At about 450hr on my 5.5 I checked and replaced the
brushes, as one of the brushes was worn down and out
of spec.
To clean the armture I used the eraser on a yellow wood
pencil, and wraped the eraser end with 400 grit sandpaper.
And then went back with emery cloth. This was done while
I was cranking the engine.
The brushes can be a problem as they can gum up the armture.
Dont know if this is a problem, but would be a place to
start. TENN.
