Onan 5500 filter questions
Onan S/N I990985700, Model # 5.5BGMFA26105H
First this is the list of filters Fleetwood Manual lists as replacement;
Oil Filter - 185-2123 (Onan), I was told by the Onan Dealer 0122-0827 replaces the filter number I listed?
1. Is this info correct?
2. Is it normal for an Onan oil filter to have the seal ring not properly seated onto the filter? I have changed my own oil going on 45 years, I have never seen a rubber oil seal seated improperly.
3. The Air Filter is a round paper element with a foam pre-filter. I have the air cover box which has a switch for summer/winter operation. Is it normal for the foam pre-filter to be bunched up and pulled out of the way by the actuation arm for summer/winter mode?
To clarify my questions, I am attaching pictures in my next post.

Here are pictures
If the oil filter seal looks normal to you it is only because of photo, it is 1/8 " higher on one side.

Ok, Question # 3 is taken care of. The lever on the air cleaner housing should be in the winter position (bar midway up inside housing), this allows foam pre-filter to slide past without getting pushed and bunched up.
I operated the summer/winter position many times and foam filter did not bunch up.
I am taking the oil filter back to Dealer. I just don't trust a oil filter that doesn’t look right.
Any one know if I can get an after-market oil filter, (part number) or is this a buy from Onan only item?
I am calling Onan for fuel filter Number as I believe they sold me diesel fuel filters.

Just got off the phone with Onan, I was given the wrong; oil, and both fuel filters.
I do need to know one question Onan could not answer.
I can see a fuel filter on the generator behind the air filter. Where is the filter for the fuel pump??? And how easy is it to change?
Thanks.
