Jim, this may be of help if the two generators are the same: http://irv2.infopop.cc/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/1356094452/m/...271038824#1271038824

If the generator runs and there is no power output, there is also a possibility that the breaker on the generator has tripped.

this morning i removed the brushes and they seemed extended properly and they did not bind when i pushed them in and out..there is maybe 3/4 inch of brush there..i put them back and started the generator and it worked..since it failed when the outside temp was near 90 and this mornig it was 72,i'll follow up when it gets hot again and report back..thanks for the replies..jim
