ONAN 7.5 HDKAJ Spec K

My generator runs about 30 seconds and shuts down with a fault code of 33 (overheating). I have done the recommended checks except for flushing the cooling system. I an lead in the direction of a faulty temp sensor. I do not have a service/repair manual but I am lead to believe that the task will not be easy to get to the sensor to perform any kind of test, i.e. removing the lead from the sensor to see if the unit will then run.

First does anyone have thoughts to share?

Second where can it get a PDF version of the repair manual?

My unit is installed in a 2006 Fleetwood Discovery 39V.

Thanks in advance.

I had the same problem. The sensor is short money. While you are in there change the thermostat.
This thread might help, it did me.

Thanks for getting back to me. I decided to flush the radiator first before looking ing a possible faulty high temp switch.

I drained the system and added the flushing compound. I filled the system IAW the owners manual and after a few tries got the generator to run continually.

The problem I now have is that I was unable to completely drain then system. I only get a little less than a half gallon. Also I found it very difficult to get all of the air out of the system.

Any thoughts on how to completely drain the system?

Thanks in advance.

Did you remove top little cover and pull up filler tube, remove cap then underneath unscrew antifreeze drain cap. Did you only get about 1/2 gallon both times you drained it? I was wondering if it was low on coolant to start with because the plastic coolant tanks are known to leak because of a brass fitting on the bottom that slits the tank.

Correct, I got the same amount of fluid each time I drained the system and yes I removed the pressure cap and the overflow tank cap. I am sure that there was sufficient coolant after I refilled it the first time because I had to run the unit several minutes to expel the air from the system.

Thanks for your thoughts. I am going to continue working with it. If you are anyone else has any other ideas pls respond.
