Onan 7500

On a recent trip we were traveling running the generator and both AC units. After about 30 minutes of running the generator shut down. I have an Onan EC-30W attached to the genset and it gave me a High Temp error. I resumed driving and restarted the generator. Again, it ran for about 20 to 30 minutes, then it shut off. I got the same error message on the EC-30W.

I decided to try it only running one AC unit. We drove another 4 hours with the generator running and one AC unit running with no problems.

I have checked the cooling fluid for the generator and it is okay.

Any ideas as to what to look for ??

Not having a water-cooled generator, I don't have a suggestion, but it obviously is overheating with the extra load from the second AC. Maybe a restricted cooling line? Any other ideas out there?

Randco,
Try running both A/C's on the generator while the rig is stationary. If it runs without shutting down then it could have something to do with the wind direction while driving and not getting enough air current circulating to the generator to cool it down. If the generator still shuts down then you may have a restriction in the cooling system.
