I have never primed the fuel filter when installing and have never had a starting issue. From what I was told the first time I changed mine, when you push the start button and the light is flashing prior to the generator actually starting, it is preheating and running the fuel pump to pressurize the line.

Have you seen the filter? If so enlighten us on just how you would "prime" it........

No need to prime it, and probably impossible anyway. Just hold down the start switch in the Stop position for several seconds (it will click repeatedly) to operate the fuel pump and then start. Even that isn't necessary on mine - the filter is lower than the fuel tank & line, so fuel trickles into the filter continuously anyway. Also trickles down my arm while changing the darn thing, but that's a different topic!
