Thanks to all who have weighed in on the OP.\, as I was only trying to find out if others have extended the recommended times with/without problems.
I am pretty good at keeping the routine stuff up because I can do-it-myself. After reading about how some have dropped the generator, maybe I'll revisit that idea as a possibility, if I arrange to have someone give me a hand.
SKY BOSS, I have my manual and do the routine stuff as you posted what Onan advises. When you get your quotes, please post them as I would be interested in the cost. As another idea, did Cummins say any thing about replacing the oil sensor? IF, I do-it-myself or have someone do it, I would think the prudent thing to do would be, hoses, thermostat, v-belt and both temp and oil sensors. My thoughts are, since this puppy isn't easy to access, once removed do it all, the extra parts cost will be a very small part of the total cost. What do you think?

The 2 estimates I got were...well... LOL
The full 1000 hour service came in at $1900. A scaled back version came in at $925.
Even they suggested that inspecting some of the items of a 1000 hour service should be fine and if something is found, then take care of it then. The good news is that mine slides out. If they had to remove it add 4 hours of labor for removing and replacing.
OUCH!
The shop I go to is pricey but they have always done good work and don't nickel - dime me on odds and ends they find and fix.
I know I probably sound crazy but my gut feeling is to get the "Full Monti" and be done with that. Having once had a generator go down on a 95* day and driving was NOT fun without AC. That has certainly affected my position on PMs.

I did my own and saw that the pump was beginning to weep, so I replaced it. I did not want to have to pull it again or have it fail on me when I needed it. If it makes you feel better to have it all done, I think you will rest easy and should not have a problem that could have been avoided.
