My wife's motorhome has a 2800 series Onan generator that has a carburetor problem that I want to fix. Every so often after the generator has been running for 5 to 10 minutes it will stall and refuse to restart. Usually this happens when a heavy load, 1500 watts or so, is applied. I have tracked it down to flooding of the carburetor. I have repaired it by dropping the fuel bowl, which drains the fuel, and working the needle in its seat. It will start after doing this if I hold the choke open while cranking and then run good for a long period of time. The last time I did this it worked for a full season but it did it again on the last trip. I feel its time for a new needle and seat and while I'm in there a new float. Onan/Cummins doesn't list the parts I want and only lists a carb rebuild kit at $140+. A carb kit is OK but I don't want to fully rebuild the carb because it requires dropping the generator out and disassembling it just to remove the carb. Is there any other source for carb repair parts for Onan generators or someone that sells Onan parts at discount? I have the carb kit part number.

Bo, I stumbled onto this site one day. Looks like they have a carb overhaul kit for less than your local guy. I've never done business with them. http://partsandservice.com/bin/sp.buyer.cgi

Thanks for the link Donavon. Interesting parts finder. Unfortunately the kit they found isn't the right one for my gen. The 2800 is small and not the most common around. I'll keep looking and if not successful I'll go to the local Cummins dealer and bend over.

Try this guy out, he seems to have some good stuff.

What is the Onan part number? I think the Onan engine is actually a Linamar if that helps.
