Hi all!
1996 Onan Model #7.5DKDFJ Spec #11303D

When running on genset, getting 106-110 volts. Both 15K air conditionersers run good but I am worried about hurting them at that low voltage. Genset runs good. Is there any way to turn up the voltage?

Yaj,

Since you haven't had any replies to you post yet let me see if I can help you.
I have a different generator than you, mine is a 1995- 6.5 Onan generator. However trouble shooting on voltage should be similar.

With a meter that reads hertz, check to see how many hertz the generator is producing. It should be around 6o HZ. If it is less, then perhaps the engine isn't running as fast as it should be. Not sure what speed is recommended for your unit but on mine it is 1800 to 1850 rpm. Also check the engine speed under electrical load because I have had it where the engine throttle rod from the governor to the carburetor had become disconnected and the engine speed could not remain constant under load.

If you do have 60 Hz, check the slip rings to see if they are clean and check the brushes to make sure they are in good shape.

If all the above checks out okay you need to have your voltage regulator checked it may need replacing.

Hope this helps you some.

Jimmy
