Onan Generator Question

Hello

I have an Onan BGM Marquis I am wiring it to its own Power panel. The panel consists of an RV 50A plug and a 20A GFI. I know the RV 50A power plug and how it works. My question is this. The generator has a pair of 25A breakers on the side. No big deal. The question lies in the fact that It has the pair of hots which I expected. But the snag is it has a pair of neutrals as well. And the ground which is green. When I put the meter between the two neutrals they oHm out to 0. So can I tie the two neutrals on the generator together. Twist them together and connect to the neutral bar in the panel. I would like to use both 25A legs to feed the 50A plug in the box.

As a side note I do know that with the generator running. If you meter the two hot legs together like in a pedestal. They only read 120. So there not out of phase like in the pedestal.

Any information gladly appreciated

My Service Man. for the HDKAJ, HDKAK, HDKAT shows the Neutrals tied together internally. I expect your ohm meter is telling the same.

You don't get 240 out of the Onan rv product line. The commercial mobile you can. The rv line is usually green, while the commercial mobile units are white.

I understand no 240. But in a pedestal if you put a meter between the two vertical spades you get 240. Its only 120V per leg and never 240 in the rv. I was just saying that between the two hot legs on the generator I only see 120 so that indicates there in phase the opposite of the the rv pedestal. If my thinking is correct Each leg to ground is 120V to clear up confusion if any in my wording.

What you are proposing to do should work ok. Just be aware that, unlike true 50/240 power, if you run close to max on both legs you will have nearly 50 amps on the neutral. If you wire up with 6 AWG you will be ok.

The Onan QD 10kw and 12.5kw do produce 50/240 and can be used as such if needed.

Max amps is 41.7 according to the manual but I won't pull max power. One air conditioner and the norm appliances TV etc if I'm on Genny power. Refrig to gas, water heater to gas. Bare necessities lol

Actually you can, but they are the 10K and 12.5K units and they are green too. I have the 12.5 unit and the 240 is needed to run my dryer.
