2007 Winnebago Adventurer 38J - Onan 5500 Genset - Just got this unit used.

Genset started at dealership - just tried to start it for first time at home.

Loud beeping from area where genset lives when depressing the start. Anyone know the meaning of the beeping - nothing I can find in the manuals - no code thrown that I can discern.

Could beeping be an alert house batteries not sufficiently charged?

Thanks in advance.

Did you prime the generator using the stop side of the rocker switch first? Is the indicator light on the rocker switch lit or flashing? Is the generator turning over and not starting or not turning over at all?

jcthorne,

I did the prime. The light on the starter switch is flashing rapidly. The gerator does not appear to be turning over. I noticed the house batteries showed less than 12 volts (around 10 volts).

I also noted the Aux Batt switch was on. I switched that off (after reading the manual). I also ran the engine for 30 minutes to bring the charge back up on the House batteries just in case the beeping is related to insufficient charge to start.

I hope to be able to retry starting the genset tomorrow (time permitting) to see if fully charged house batteries make the difference.

Thanks for the reply.

I will let you know what happens next.
