I was wondering if anyone is using Rotella 15W40 oil in their Onan? It meets all the specs and is relatively inexpensive for a good name brand oil. I know a lot of people use it for a broad range of applications including gas and diesel motors. I figure it will work well in the Arizona heat. I am using the Onan filter that I picked up from a local shop for a little over $8.
Thanks!

I've been using the Rotella 5w40 synthetic in mine.

I have run the Rotella 15W40 in my Onan for over a year now. That is also what I run in the Cummins diesel that pushes the motor home. Makes it easier to carry extra oil for both. No problems with either.

Yep, I run the same Rotella in both the Cummins and the Onan for the same reason. Less oil to carry and keep up with.

Another 15w-40 Rotella user in both Onan and Cummins 5.9. That was the oil that the dealer recommended and we've been running it since we bought the RV in Jan '04

Yeah, I went with the 15W40 Rotella. I usually go with Mobil Delvac 1300 in my Silveradao Duramax, but the auto store I was at didn't have it. I have never heard any complaints with the Rotella, so I figured for $10/gallon I was good to go.
I also looked at the Bosch filters that I cross referenced. For some reason they did not look as long as the Onan filters. I am glad I got the Onan filters, cause they barely extend past the floor of the generator housing. Anything shorter and you would not get a wrench on it.
Out!

I too have been using Rotella for the past 1 1/2 years in Cummins/coach & Onan/genset. No problems whatsoever.
Talked to Cummins/Onan last month at a rally, and they did recommend their specified Valvoline products, but also agreed that the Rotella was just as good.
Interesting 'survey' from folks here. Thanks.
