Long time reader, first time poster. Have learned a lot, but I have a puzzle I can't solve. I have a 2000 Southwind Storm, 30 amp, with Intellitec shed system. When the gen is running, the front AC with not do anything, but the rear runs fine. When I switch to shore power both will run fine. Switch back to gen and the front dies. Everything else in the coach is fine on gen or shore. Any ideas would be appreciated as it's hot and football tailgating is coming up fast.

Got enough generator capacity to pull both A/Cs, especially on compressor start up?

Think it's done on purpose. Your GEN might not have enough power to run BOTH.

My gen is an Onan 5500W. All worked well when I parked it last.

Well that generator will give you about 45 amps so I doubt that you are overloading it...Are there breakers on it...

30 amp breakers on the gen. They are NOT tripping, I reset them to make sure. I assume if they trip I would not have power to anything. What gets me is the fact the front AC will not even try to come on ( no fan, no hum no nothing) with the gen. I try it alone and not with the rear AC.

Not sure on this but one of those 30 amp breakers on the genset goes to your main breaker panel and the other may control one of your ac's via the transfer switch...

Follow your shore power cord into your rig...The first thing it sould be connected to is the transfer switch...there are relays in it that direct power from the genny or shore power to your main breaker panel and the 2nd ac if it is wired that way...Sometimes these relays get stuck...Sometimes giving the transfer switch a whack with a rubber mallet wakes it up (releases the stuck relay)...If you are comfortable using a voltmeter, check what is going in and coming out of the transfer switch with the generator running...

Movin on.....You're a genius.... thanks.....My Onan has two breakers..One has a white toggle the other is black... I had both pushed to the rear, but when I pulled the white one forward and the black one to the rear all things work fine... never saw breakers that need to be in opposite directions. before. Oh well, my puzzle is solved. Thanks to all for your help.
