The oven temperture control is 60* off on the low side. Is there any way to adjust it are does the whole termastate system have to be replaced.

On most ranges, if you pull off the oven knob, you'll find a small screw in the center of the shaft. This adjusts the thermostat temperature. If you have an oven thermometer, you can tweak the screw until the temperature held in the oven matches the knob setting on the front of the range. IOW, light the oven, set it for, say, 325 degrees, put the oven thermometer in the oven, pull the knob (being sure not to turn it) and tweak the adjustment screw until the oven thermometer is steady at 325 degrees.

SamB, Our Coachman has a Magic Chef Range in it. We too had problems with the temprature and the pilot light. Remove the Oven Knob you will find a small hole on the right side, this screw will adjust the pilot. The small screw in the center of the knob shaft adjusts the oven temprature like Rusty stated. Good Luck

Keep in mind that you must use a remote (centered in oven) thermometer, opening the door to check oven temperature is a lost cause. If you have a glass in the door, place the thermometer where it may be plainly read (centered in oven) without opening the door.

I have an Atwood oven and it does not have any adjustments on it. I have an extened warrant on the camper so I will check to see if the oven is covered and if so let them replace it.

Thanks everybody. SamB

RV ovens are notorious for being poor at cooking. One of the biggest things we did to regulate and stabilize the temp was to place a pizza brick in the oven. The additional heat sink will generally bring the oven temps to right on and will help keep then at the set point.

Donn, I tried your advice and it worked great. I put four 6" floor tiles in our oven atop the burner separation plate, it now bakes without burning the bottom before the top browns, and everything is done throughout. It's like the burner is too large for the oven size, which causes the oven to over-temp before the temperature is equalized throughout the oven.
