parallax converter

Hello group, Back briefly to ask who has replaced this notoriously bad converter with what brand and model and where did you buy it? I'm back in search of it now I've found what it looks like. Thanks

I replaced mine within 6 months of buying the rig. I installed a PD9145 with a separate Charge Wizard. I wanted to have a 3-stage replacement that I could plug it in and not worry about it boiling water all the time. I have had it installed now for 4 years with no issues. If I had it to do all over again I probably would go with the 60 or 80 Amp version. That would give me a slightly faster recharge rate. I have 4 6-volt batteries so I could use a little more Amps.

I am sure I have the same converter as you in my 2003 Raxhall. I see no problem with it except the constant hum. Mine seemed to get louder and it was annoying me at night when we were trying to sleep. I bought a digital timer with battery backup and set it to turn off the hum at 10:00p and back on at 7:30a. This has worked out great. The Parallax is a good ferroresonant converter. There is nothing to fail and it won’t over charge your batteries.
