Penguin A/C help needed..Please

Hi all,
1999 dutch star. Rear a/c will not run unless i spin the fan manually to start, I'm trying to avoid replacing the unit, Been searching with no info, I know my coach is old but i'm hoping it's a capacitor. Been through all my books and this is all i have on the units. Is there a universal start cap i can purchase?
The labels are worn off, In the high temps of texas right now and i'm leaving on a trip on the 5th i'm hoping to get some help
Thanks all

The labels on the caps are worn off? Or some other labels?

The caps under the shroud can be removed, a picture taken of the motor label, the model and BTUs of the A/C noted. Then take that info to an A/C repair shop, or electrical distributor and see if they can match you up with something. These caps are common as bread. You probably need ~25 MFD at 270 Volts AC. Best to get the values right off the cap though.

Good luck!

You can get them at Granger if one is close. Thak the old in and they can match it.

I had the same problem with my Coleman ac. If the compressor is still working you can buy a new motor and you will be good to go.

The fan is a low torque motor and would not have a start cap(acitor), only a run cap. Both the fan and compressor will use a cap and it usually a three terminal device, a common wire in and one out to the herm (compressor) and fan. I did a quick google search and there appears to be two different caps depending on the btu rating of the A/C. One called for a 20uf/5uf and the other called for a 30uf/5uf. Have you examined the cap to see what is printed on it. I have a 1999 model year rv and I replaced my caps. The value was still printed on them.

Thanks for the replies,
The guy that works on my coach could not find the #'s, I received an email from dometic this morning with the part #'s for both caps,

'Hello and good morning. The fan/run capacitor is part number 3313107.028. the cost would be 48.92. the start capacitor is part number 3100236.235. The cost is 18.62. And there would be a flat rate 25.00 shipping with both parts ordered together"

My question is this, The same caps sourced elsewhere are much cheaper in price, Is there a difference?
Thanks in advance

Should not be as long as they can cross reference the part numbers and the specs match.

Free delivery and $24 at eBay...same exact part: Dometic Duo

Amazon has the other one with free shipping, and priced at $25: Dometic 3100236

All I did to find substitutes was google the part numbers they sent you.
