Penguin II

Anyone have a Penguin II / with Heat Pump manual? My MH came with it, but there is no manual. Anyone know how much to torque the mounting bolts?

I cannot even find my model # (9104305517) on Dometic's site.

The Dometic website is not very user friendly as I found out when I recently went looking for the part number for a start capacitor for our Penguin II.

The number you are using is the SKU number, not the model number. Remove the cover up on the roof and take another look at the tag for the model number (called the Mfg # on my label) starting with 65XXX... The model number will make it easier to search the support page on the Dometic website for manuals. I was able to find the operation manual, installation manual, and a parts list for my unit. Good luck.

Penguin II

The Penguin II comes with a 1" thick gasket and should be torqued to 1/2" compression.

Once read the suggested torque spec were around 50-65 INCH-LBS [not foot-lbs]. But as a rule of thumb--1/2 inch compression sounds good. Three other tips: 1-need to check this periodically to make sure gasket remains compressed; 2- used a little bit of caulk or adhesive to seal bottom of gasket to roof surface; and 3- put hard rubber blocks of appropriate size between the roof surface and outer edges [bottom] of the a/c unit. This helps off-set the cantilevered weight of the unit on the gasket.
PS--always use the more expensive, gray, closed-cell gasket--not the white, open-cell one.

Thanks folks. I e-mailed Dometic and got the manual. It calls for 40-50 in/lb. Of course the smallest torque wrench I could find started at 120 in/lb.
