There is someone camping where we are. He is having a problem with his propane water heater. The pilot light won't stay lit. He'll light it and it lights but will go back out. Any ideas that I can pass on to him?

Check the burner tube, especially where the opening is for the air intake, for spider or wasp nests.

Clean the flame sensor may have carbon buildup. You can spray with contact spray do not use anything hard or you might brake element.
