Hello! Please don't laugh, but I'm going to get right to the problem. We hooked up 220 amps to a camper. Well obvious to you but not to me at the time, this camper only needs 110 amps. Well the converter breakers flipped which is easily corrected. Hooked up a battery which powers everything through the converter. a/c unit is still good, fridge light comes on but it is to be determined whether it will work properly. All lights work, microwave will not come on. Tried it on a different plug but no luck, so I'm assuming it is fried. My husband went over everything with the voltmeter. It has a Centurion 3000 cs 4500 converter. We have power to all the breakers, but no a/c going out to the appliances with 110 hooked up. Also the battery is not charging with 110 hooked up. So what I need to know is if my power converter/inverter/charger has a manual way to reset it. The manual is a 2 page pamplet and only says that the auto recovery will automatically reset itself if a short occurs. I'm hoping that i can replace part of the converter and not the whole thing. It's probably fried, but if there are breakers then could it still have fuses? is it unheard of to replace part of a converter? I cannot take it to a dealer or electrician. It was only connected to 220 amps for 30 seconds! Ok, I guess you can laugh now! But you don't have to buy a new converter! Thanks so much to anyone who has the time to reply. Any advise is greatly appreciated! Savannah.

You don't say what year and type RV you have so here's some general information. The inverter is fed thru a circuit breaker on you main AC panel. The inverter then feeds a sub panel to those appliance feeding from the inverter. Most inverters are reset by turning the on/off switch on the inverter to off, pause, then turning it on. Both AC and DC systems can be effected by this type of problem, the best advice I can give is to make sure everything is working from your transfer, main power panel, inverter, all AC appliances, thermostat, refrigerator control board, B.I.R.D, and the emergency start relay. Also check and reset the GFI receptacles. I doubt the inverter manufacturer will sell you parts to repair it, instead they will probably ask you to return it for repairs. Good luck.

I am assuming that you plugged a 30AMP cord into a 220 AC dryer receptacle if so you probably fried the AC, Fridge and anything else that was plugged into a 110AC outlet. You may want to give your insurance company a call. By the way you are not the first person to do this.

First you said amps, and you should have said VOLTS.. Oh well, we can but warn and warn and warn but most folks do not come here till it's a bit late to read the warnings.
NOT all of those 30 amp outlets are TT-30, no matter how much they may look like it, no matter how well the plug fits, they are NOT TT-30.
And professional electrincians given a TT-30 to install, ,,, often think it's for something else so they wire it wrong.
ALWAYS TEST any outlet you are not already sure of, or which is not covered by someone else's liability insurance.
Your converter. is likely toast. Someone pointed you to best converter.. GOOD company, other devices that may have turned a bit crispy include Telelvisions, radios and the Microwave.. Fridge, Water heater and such likely survived, but there are no guarantees here. Test them when you find a 120 volt oultet.

If it was just a higher amperage outlet you would probably be OK since your unit would only pull what current flow (Amps) it needs. With over-voltage, you may have fried something real good and may see the burn marks. I DO troubleshoot electronic circuits to component level but you're not nearby... It's even possible the cord itself is damaged. Look at the cord connection to your converter and at the first components nearest to that connection. If only you were parked at our nearby Cabelas I'd be right over with my meter and soldering iron!!!
