..... and some other words that you can imagine.

I discovered a leak in the basement today.

Some carpet was wet, a cardboard box was damp, but no real damage.

A plastic union was cracked where 2 PEX fresh water lines were joined.

A quick trip to the hardware store for a brass union, some clamps, but the crimping toll was $95. Gulp!

They rented the tool to me for $5.

5 minutes work and I was back in business.

I think I'll get a crimping tool, a short length of PEX and some fittings for emergencies.

The cheapest I can find pinch crimping tool is $50 on eBay.

Anyone know of a better deal?

Dirk they now make some fittings with "O-rings" inside them you simply push the pex lines into firmly. They have metal "Fingers" that keep the pex line from pulling out and the o-rings provide the seal. They make it a simple fix almost anyone can do. They work well too!

I started using these to do repairs in hard to reach places. (Stuff you could not get the crimping too into without a LOT of problems) I now use them most of the time. Heck I have a assortment of different fittings of them in my rig now.

Thanks, Don.

I have since found some alternatives to the crimp fittings, including yours.
