Power Centre replacement (CS4500)

Hey guys!

Centurion CS4500

Background: I've been having some "wierd" issues with my power in my trailer the last month or so. Basically the batteries have been going dead VERY quickly and/or not charging at all when I have the trailer plugged in to my generator. Sometimes even when my trailer was plugged into 120V, the lights were dim, batteries weren't getting a charge and my utility panel was showing battery at 50% (which of course it should be at 100% when plugged into shore power).

So I was thinking of upgrading my system to something newer, preferably one of the three stage charging systems. Does anyone have any recommendations that would fit in the same space that the old CS4500 will leave when I take it out?

Is hooking the new one up something that requires a "specific" skillset, or can an electrical rookie be able to plug the wires back?

Here is a replacement board

Converter Main Board (CS4500 & CS6000)

and they have much more call them they will get you on the right track

Thanks, but I'm not looking to just replace the board on the CS4500, I wanted to upgrade to a better power centre all together (apparently the CS4500 isn't a great system)

I was looking at something like 30 Amp Power Center with 45 Amp Converter/Charger

That is a great unit you
won't have any issues putting it in any questions just ask and I can walk you through it.

You can go up to the 60 amp if you wanted too and use your breakers you have now

Quick question for ya then - is there any reason to go to the 4500 series over the 4300 series that you can see?

Grrr... The guy at Bestconverter advised that that line of converters has been discontinued... He recommended the American CS6000...

Darn well the 6000 is a direct replacement and easy to do

Well, went ahead and ordered the CS6000... /shrug Will put it in in the next couple of weeks and let you know how things worked out.

Cool just take your time and unplug and unhook the battery it's no problem to install, it will fix all the issues with the charging flickering lights

Update:

So I took my time, took out the old power centre and replaced it with the American CS6000XL. Took me about 2 hours to do but I was in no rush... It was pretty straight forward... I did take pictures of the entire process if someone wanted to see them for any reason.

First thing I noticed that with shore power hooked up the new charger was going at 13.4V approx, where the old Centurion was at 12.4V... I ran off battery all night with the fridge, furnace (turned on 6-7 times), water heater and LP detector and some lights with NO issue. Before that would have completely drained my batteries. Also now with shore power hooked up the 12v lights were nice and bright...

Still converter...
