Power for Samsung RF18
I just installed a RF18 refer after removing my failing Dometic. What a wonderful improvement!!!!
I am powering it with the ice maker plug that is behind the refer.
Does anyone know if this plug switches from the inverter to shore power when I am plugged in ?
Thanks,
Greg

Just disconnect your Shore power and see what receptacles you have voltage in.

It seems that most duel fuel rigs do not have an inverted plug because it was never intended to be used that way. I know on Mountain Aire's of the same year and model the total electric rigs do, and the duel fuel rigs do not. If your rig has a sub panel for the inverter and it is near the main panel, it can be as simple as switching wiring from the main to the sub.

Scooterbob, the ice maker plug has constant power, with or without shore power. It was intended to operate the ice maker even when NOT plugged in to shore power, so that indicates it is run off the inverter. My question is, weather that plug is EXCLUSIVELY powered only by the inverter or if it is powered by shore power when plugged in and transfers to the inverter when non plugged in.
I checked it while plugged in and unplugged and it is always powered up, unless I turn the inverter off manually when not on shore power.
When on shore power, turning the inverter off and on has no effect on the ice maker plug.
I like to leave the coach plugged in between trips to keep the batteries charged, but don't want to run the refer when not using the coach.

Your inverter if factory installed most likely auto switches to shore power when present. That is how ours functions.

On some the 2 socket plus in will have one running off the inverter for the ice maker and the other only when on shore power or generator. Just check with a multimeter or even a light fixture.

Thats how i wired mine. The ice maker breaker had other recitals and a/v equiment on it so i put the frig on a dedicated breaker out of the inverter sub panel.

Bamarider, so with the fridge wired that way, am I correct in assuming you must turn on the inverter when not connected to shore power ?

I never turn off my inverter. When on shore it transfers to shore. If I disconnect or lose power, it transfers to to inverter. It's like having a UPS.

I would think so. But as someone said in an earlier post your inverter probably has an internal transfer switch that bypasses the inverter when on shore power

Yup--leave the inverter on and the fridge too. It probably depends on storage conditions but in my barn, I leave both on. Like the fridge in my stick home, I think fridge works better, last longer, if left on 24/7/365......
