Power Gear Jacks issue.
Having trouble with my "Power Gear Levelers". Jacks are up. Push auto down and hear clicking coming from pump area. Checked it out. Solenoid making noise like when you start a car with low battery. As far as i know, pump uses engine battery which is fine. Do I need new solenoid? or, bad contacts. Any suggestions?

Welcome to irv2. I've moved your post here and started a new thread for you to get a broader view of your issue. Good luck.

Have the engine running when operating the jacks, it might make a difference, and most MH mfgrs. recommend that. Power jacks do not like low voltage. If that doesn't help, clean all the wiring connections, making sure they are all tight afterwards.

You may just have a dirty connection, either hot or ground. Starting with the battery, check 'em out.

All connections were cleaned with emery cloth. Voltage check showed 12 volts. Only thing i can think of now is bad motor starter solenoid. Has anybody had one of those go bad? And what did it sound like when it did go bad? Thanks!
One more thing. Power gear says do not run engine. Ignition on only.

Just read your note this morning. That is the first thing I will try this morning. I swear I read in my manual to operate jacks, turn ignition to the on position or Acc. But i will go with starting the engine. Will let you all know what happens. Thanks!

Not sure what unit you have, ours needs both the house and chassis battery connections for the system to work.

Still no luck getting jacks to work. Now Gen. in same compartment will not start. What I have is a Monaco Monarch SE. 30 PDD. Tried jacks with engine running and still nothing. Seems that both the motor for jacks and Gen are not getting enough juice.

Need to check your 6V house batteries voltage separate.
You may have one that is dead.
Unhook each one of their cable connections and clean at post & cable.
Check voltage of each battery.
Then reconnect them if all is good.
Then check voltage going to them from inverter/charger when plugged to shore power to see if above 13V.

I thought the house batteries have nothing to do with jacks. As far as I know, the chassis battery serves the jacks pump.

Here's Power Gears email address
info@powergearus.com . Their techs respond very fast. Tell them everything you can and see what they say. They will walk you through some diagnostics.

Well all you RVers, I decided to pull out my house batteries to service the compartment. Sand , paint, freshen up a bit. When I pull the batteries out, one had blown up. The whole side was blown off. The second was totally out of water. [ moderator edit ]??? I have only owned this coach for about a month. Spent a week in a Destin,Florida campground with no problems.
So now it's 2 new 6 volt batteries and try to figure out why this happened.

That sounds like continual over-charging, that evaporated the water, that caused a short, that blew out the side of the battery.
