propane detector fault

During our camping trip last weekend, we were woken up at 4:00 AM to our propane detector going off. It wasnt an alarm, the light was yellow indicating a fault. I checked all the systems, even shut the propane tanks off, it wouldnt stop. After about 3 hours with no way to stop it, being the first night of a 3 day trip, I took the panel off and cut the wire. Anyone have any idea what to do? I can re connect the wire and see what happens, but why did it fault in the first place?

Generally speaking, the detectors we use commercially go into a fault mode if there is a problem with the circuitry or the sensor itself. Nothing worse than a protection device just sitting there quietly because it is broken.

Agreed, I want to fix it, but I was thinking the same thing, sounds like its just cooked. Gotta call the dealer and see what they have to say.

What is the date code on the back? Probably not too old.
5-7 yrs old needs replacing.
If there is good 12V power to it, and there is no LP leak, replace it.

The TT is a 2012, so unless it was just sitting on the shelf for years it should be newer. I will let you know what the dealer says.

Mine did the same thing, blew it out with a airhose and it is working fine. Yes I did test it.

+1 on the Muffin fix. We read that because the units collect dust and moisture you can use a blow dryer or an air hose to bring them back to normal. Also suggested was to leave them out in the sun for a few hours. In our case I used a blow dryer on a medium setting for about 5 minutes and then let it set outside of the RV for the day. It has worked perfectly ever since.
