Here is a Trailer Life Video of how to do it. I did mine and it was easy with hand tools.

Good Luck!

Ok. I have watched the You-tube video and believe from everyone's comments that I can easily do this job. I do have one question. My Newmar, Canyon Star propane tank is in a compartment, front left by the driver door. It is a separate compartment and is open to ground etc--the door is just to hide it. However, there is this little plastic dog house that sits over the regulator and is bolted a metal plate. I took it off and the dog house is open on the bottom (the plate makes the floor to it). It kinda of folds from the top of the dog house to open and close it to get it over the regulator and hoses/connections. If I put the new valve in the regulator moves towards the back of the coach compartment and the dog house no longer has a plate under it to attach it to. How critical is this dog house--I think it must be to protect it from rocks or something coming up from the bottom. Would it be ok to to just cut a piece of plastic or wood to attach to the plastic dog house to makeshift a floor for it? Welding more metal seems out of the question.

Can you send a picture? I would think you could make an extension bracket out of sheet metal.

My attempt at posting a picture

If this worked you will see the tank, gauge to the left, turn on vale on the left with the regulator under the white box.

I had the same setup in our 2002 DSDP. I just pushed the cover down over the pipes and left it. I don't think I ever bolted it down. It stayed that way for many years till we traded the rig in mid Feb of this year. Wasn't a problem.

Thanks! I may try and find a small piece of metal that I can extend the platform some. Worse case i can tape a piece of HD plastic to the bottom to make the box enclosed all around.

I moved the plastic over to stay on the regulator. I also put a 3"(about) piece of 2x4 under the gas pipe to keep the pipe from bouncing around due to the longer length.
