Propane "pinging"

Every since we purchased our '09 Challenger we have had a "ping, ping, ping," etc, noise from our propane. I have changed the regulator and even put WD 40 in the lines to see if the back flow preventor valves were the problem. Nothing has helped. I purchased a mechanic's listerning device and it seems to be comming from the tanks, so I bought a new tank and it is still making the noice. Any ideas? Also, do not put WD 40 in the lines or you will have to replace the control valves for the hot water heater - seems to gum them up!

There has been several posts on the Forest River forum about pinging propane tanks. Do a search here and then try there. I remember reading them when I had a Forest River TT.
Good Luck

Update - Thanks for the replies. I could not find any thing on Forest River. I changed out the regulator and change over valve yesterday and now, no more ping. DW is very happy. Next, I have to figure out why the 12v lights surge. I think I'll have to change out the converter.
