How much does propane weigh per gallon?

Weight per gallon of liquid propane at 60 degrees F, 4.2 lbs.

Thanks for the replies. I needed to know to understand how a propane service was pricing his product as he uses a scale to weigh the portable tank before and after filling.

He charges by the pound. The math says he is charging a fair price @ $1.80 per gallon.

That is better than fair, around here it is 2.79 and up to over 3.00 I just looked at Flying J web site and most of theirs are 2.79 with a high of 3.41 and a low of 1.99

Just had 100 gallons delivered yesterday @$2.19 per gallon. Had him top off the MH while is was here, 5 more gallons.

considering a full LP tank is actually 80% full and given a 30# cylinder. Is it full at 80% of the 30# (24# or 5.7 gals) or is a 30# cylinder the weight when 80% full (or 7.14 gals)?

I believe it is the latter but want to make sure.
