I have a 05' Aerolite Cub trailer. The last few weeks we have noticed a very small propane smell seeming to be coming from the stove burners. Some days I don't smell anything and other days you get a little bit. It is a Wedgewood Vision. Having the unit a year or so I didn't find any instruction book on the stove in our packet of trailer stuff. Now my tank just went empty last weekend and I filled them up today. I didn't see if having a fresh tank of propane would change this problem. Were leaving tomorrow for the weekend. I wonder if one of the valves is not seating right. Is there any service that can be done to them?

Have you checked to see if the oven's pilot light went out and the oven knob is still set to 'Pilot'?

My Wedgewood Vision is a piezo igniter - no pilot light. I assume Jim's is as well.

One of the fittings in the stove may be leakin, I've also heard there is a regulator in there, just for the burners, but haven' looked for it myself.

with some Dawn dishwashing detergent and water, you can create a soapy solution, remove the venture and burner assmy from the valve and do a leak check with the soapy solution on the fitttings and valves. The gas will have to be turn on at the tank but off on the stove. If a leak is present you will form bubbles at that point. Good luck and be safe.

Your right there is no pilot. The last time my wife used the oven was last fall. I put my head in there and didn't smell anything. I think what I'll do is the soap test later today. RV Roamer have you ever removed the top cover for the Wedgewood stove to get to the guts. If I remember from our walk-thur a year ago the guy had to push or pull real hard to get it to lift up. I don't have any owners book for the stove. thanx for all the input. We are leaving for the weekend later today to South Eastern Ohio. Weather should be good for the weekend.

I understand that ovens do not light with the peizo igniter's because it's not reliable enough to light every time, and the only way to ascertain if it lights is to "stick your head in the oven" and observe. That's why only the top burners use the peizo. Oven pilots must be hand lit for safety. Then you leave the adjustment knob set to "pilot" until breaking camp. Your '05 camper should have a LPG detector from the factory, didn't it activate?

Have you tried to locate a web site for the stove manufacturer? I have been fortunate to locate manuals for many items by going to the manufacturer site. Don't know if it will work for you, and can't provide a link, but good luck. Make sure you do the leak test at every connection you can locate. If you can smell gas, it is coming from somewhere.

Attwood is the manufacturer of the Wedgewood stove tops and related stove/oven products.

To remove the top cover: Grasp the burner grate and push backward about 3/4 inch, then lift up on the top surface (not the grate - it will just pop off). There are a pair of spring clips in the back that have to be compressed.

You might have fixed the problem by filling the tank - when the tanks get close to empty you get a greater concentration of the "stinky stuff" they put into the propane. Some people use that as a gauge to know when the tank is getting empty.

Alan, I think you hit the nail on the head. I think that is what was happening. After I filled both tanks just before our trip to Lock 30 IRV2 Campout last weekend it doesn't smell any more. If that didn't work I was going to pull off the top cover as RV Roamer (Gary)gave me instructions on how to do and do a leak test at any fittings I could see. So in the future this so called "stinky smell" is kind of normal when the tanks get close to empty. Some now I forgot to refill the one tank when it ran out last year. It must have been one of those times when she was cooking and flipped the level to switch over to the other tank and I forgot about it. On our pop-up we would use about 1 tank a year. Last year in our new Aerolite hybrid we camped 57 nights, so you expect to use more gas. So far all other systems are working 100% in our 2nd year of camping in our Cub. Our 1 year bumper to bumper warrenty ran out April 1st. So just before that I de-winterized her and ran thru all the systems to make sure everything worked. So far after owning it for 15 months I'm very happy about the craftmanship and the "fit & finish" of the unit. I have just one on going issue with a factory repair done to the fiberglass skin on the one side. I was told that that would be covered under the 2 year structural warrenty if it gets worse. will see......Thanx guys.....
