Hello to all you handymen (and women)! I've noticed several of the connections in our 5th wheel have corrosion on them. From past experience in our S&B, that only means that a leak is occurring and is about to get worse. I'm considering replacing all the gray poly pipe with PEX tubing. Just wondering if any of you have some input on the difficulty of the task. I've been wanting to purchase the crimper to use in the new plumbing of a new home we plan to build. I found one on ebay for around $100 and it has several different crimp sizes.
Any of you ever replumbed your RV?

Sawdust53,

Condensation is a more likely cause of the corrosion you are referring to. The RV's plumbing lines are not insulated and susceptable to the temperature differences between what is in the line and the surrounding air. An old military saying comes to mind - "Don't fix what aint broke"

Also, when fixing an actual leak, rather than using a crimping tool (you must have a go-no go gauge to make sure the crimp is perfectly round - easy to do when first building an RV, but very hard to do when replumbing an RV), I would recommend using the newer 35 series connectors from Sea Tech. They are a simple "press-on" fitting and can be used with different types of line materials. http://www.seatechinc.com "Best thing since night baseball."

Just my 2 cents worth.

and available at home centers these days, just push the pipe on, done.

But I agree, corrosion on the metal parts of the fitting due to condensation, most likely not a problem.

Thank you Dale and Jim. Good advise. I'll look into Seatech as well as the plumbing section at our nearby Lowes. Thanks again.
